Hello, Goodbye. Isn’t that how we all feel about John Lennon, who would have been 70 years old today? Regardless of our ages, we all grew up with John Lennon’s music, as we are “saying hello” to his peaceful message and to Love, we “say goodbye” at his unexpected death. Sadly, John was living on Borrowed Time.
For me and my mama, Lennon’s tunes are Just Like Starting Over, in that his lyrics awaken our hearts and give us hope. We, as beings on this earth, whether canine or human, have the luxury of starting over every day. Actually, every moment we can make the choice to surrender to our better-selves and create a new reality. Imagine if we all made that choice at all times. The Instant Karma would be felt worldwide!
Mr. Lennon’s theme of peace, love and tolerance is this dog’s way of thinking! How do we become our best selves? For some, it isn’t easy to go Cold Turkey with their negative thoughts and may need to seek Help, but I think they need to give it a try. Just Give Peace a Chance, friends.
Some humans would bark at such a challenge, and say ”Nobody Told Me I had to continue evolving”. Bipeds playing those Mind Games must Come Together to discover the deeper love and wisdom that lies within them.
With unifying peace growing within, there is no end to what we, as a community, can accomplish. Our integrated energy will give Power to the People to fight for peace and an end to war. I think it would be brilliant if humans could develop to a point when they could declare “War is Over and peace reigns”.
Today, I celebrate peace with the Working Class Hero, John Lennon, as my inspiration. Let’s start a Revolution of love and peace!
Who or what inspires you to be your best self? Can you Give Peace a Chance?
Please note, dear readers: All links are to my favorite John Lennon videos. Click away and enjoy the concert!
Oh this is lovely! I’ve been playing his music all day but shall go and listen to some more now. I wish I could have been in Strawberry Fields today – it looked like a lovely tribute to him

Thanks for the edit catch, Bruce! Just edited… I sure blew it there— too many thoughts at once… you know how that goes…

Hi Atticus,
I just love John Lennon and his music. Nothing better than a sunny spot to chill out in with some tunes from John. Such a loss was his senseless death. I often wonder what wonderful songs he would have created in the last 30 years if he was still here. You know we cats and dogs instinctively know the power music has to touch the heart and soul. Many humans know this too and more are learning each day. So here’s to the power of, “Imagine all the people…”
Your #1 feline fan,
-Kiri-
Kiri, you warm my heart! and you are so right… us 4-legged beings have so much more insight than our human guardians. but, I feel fortunate that my mama is evolving more and more like me, and clearly you have a feline-like companion in Ron. We read his “daily 10″ and are inspired. and we’ve gained a little insight into your human, and you are in excellent hands! safe travels…
Love that you put all the links in your blog, how awesome! Enjoyed the walk
down memory lane.
Happy you enjoyed it, Jean. If you’re a Lennon fan, and have about 30 minutes, click your way through the post for a full concert.
John Lennon and the Beatles were a little before my time but I still grew up listening to them. Revolution (I think that’s correct) is one of my favorite songs. I love how you included so many of his songs into your blog.
Thanks, June! and if you click through, you’ll experience a full John Lennon concert… enjoy!
Clever girl your momma is Atti! Great use of the song titles!
Wow, it is hard to believe that John would have been 70 years old! I grew up with the Beatles, so have to admit that I am in denial so many years have gone by…never would have thought that he would end his life the way he did, which is just another reminder of how precious each day is that we are given. I am waiting to have the time to sit down and enjoy the concert you pulled together for everyone to enjoy… that is amazing how you did that! So thoughtful and creative! Thank you!
Yes…imagine if we all cared for each other, our world and our Selves…the world would be a better place for sure! I love John, and was in NYC on business the night he was shot. It is one of those moments that I will never forget, like where I was when John F. Kennedy was shot, the day we walked on the moon, and 9/11…Johns death was a tragedy and yet his message still stands today. What a gift. Thanks Atticus for your thoughtful tribute
Very clever post…even more clever, you delivered a 45 minute concert with it as well. In the words of my mother in law…”Isn’t is nice to see you all getting along”…if only we could all just get along.
Thanks Chris! Happy you enjoyed it.
Thank you Donna for the sweet comment. You are so right… a reminder that we must be aware of the preciousness of each moment…
Once you’ve watched the concert, let me know your thoughts. Mama and I viewed many many videos to come up with our favorites.
ps: I’m still waiting on my cousin for your Firenze recommendations
You are so right, Irene. I’m just a youngster pup, but my mama vividly remembers where she was when she learned of those events.
We are so fortunate that in music and poetry, John’s message of peace and unity will live forever. Like I said in the post, Let’s start a revolution for peace!
Thanks Darcie. I guess for a dog I am pretty clever (at least compared to most cats I know! ha)
I have so many memories swirling around from your post! I remember not only John Lennon and the Beatles, but the day Lennon was shot. Your post is fantastic–inserting all the music in the way you did. Very clever, and shows quite good taste! I didn’t know canines were so musical
Atticus I can see you dancing and singing in the fields of love. What a clever post. I love your headgear.
John Lennon and the Beatles had a huge influence on me, I still enjoy the music. I strive to bring harmony and peace into the homes I work in so that love can bring us together.

I am dancing and singing in Strawberry Fields… forever!
Lennon’s music has inspired and influenced mama and I too. Harmony and peace… that’s all it takes!
Well, I am the odd-woman-out. I do not know anything about John Lennon other than he was with the Beatles. I admire your talent for weaving his song titles throughout your post–very artistic!
Well, Rachel, it’s time to school you in all that is John Lennon!! So many fantastic tunes speaking to the topics of peace and love… doesn’t get any better than that! Click on some of the video links & tell me what you think.
Love John Lennon and The Beatles! Imagine is one of my favorite songs by them. If only we could really live as the song suggests:
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
Tracey
Perfect verse to quote, Tracey. Thank you for reading my tribute to the great John Lennon… Hope to see you back again!
A few years ago I visited the Strawberry Fields memorial in Central Park. As I stood with many others gazing at the “Imagine” mosaic, I did imagine . . . is it really possible for all the people to live life in peace?
Seeing the reverence in that moment, in that place, for that man, I concluded it IS possible.
One of my favorite Lennon songs is Watching the Wheels. It starts with “People say I’m crazy doing what I’m doing.” No, John, you weren’t crazy. Your message of peace continues to be heard. We may be dreamers, but we’re not the only ones . . .
Perfectly stated Steve. I have not been to the memorial in Central Park, but would love to see it someday.
Pups like you & me, Steve, are dreamers… and we are not the only ones!
Spread the peace —
I remember seeing them in Forest Hills probably in ’64 or ’65. I happened to be related to people who worked at the Forest Hills Tennis club where the concert was held. It was my first experience of “mob rule’. You did what the mob did and went where the mob went. I can still remember the girls all around me literally pulling out handfuls of hair from their heads as they sang.
Each Beatle was my favorites at one time or the other, although John ended up being my real favorite. I think as we both matured and the times matured, what he was saying was able to resonate more and more with me. I surprised myself on the day he died by crying all day (very unusual for me to do something like that). I think it was the feeling of senseless loss. Thanks so much for the retrospective. Brought back some very good memories.

Candace, what a Thrill for you to have seen the Beatles at Forest Hills!! I love all of them too, but like you, John’s message has always resonated deeply for this pup and for my mama. Imagine what else he would have created had he not been taken from us…
I’m happy that the post brought back good memories for you
Heavy thinking for a dog
I listened to John Lennon all the time when I was a teenager when no one else my age was – lol! Love the music and your optimism
Brandy
and Brandy, I love your optimism too (and your smiley faces!). John’s music will live with us forever…
Atticus, you look like some of the hippes I knew in NYC in the mid 60′s. What a nice tribute to John. I first heard their music when I was stationed in London in 1963.
My wife is a big Beatles fan so I forwarded this post to her. She enjoyed in immensely.
Keep up the good ideas.
Thank you, Michael. It pleases me that you and your wife enjoyed the post, and the videos too.
That’s so cool that you were in London as Beatlemania was beginning to brew.
