Of Music & Mischief

I had a waggilicious weekend friends!  Did you?  With the end of Passover, Good Friday and Easter, this has been a packed weekend.

Friday night Wilbur and I had a sleepover at grandma and Cody’s house while mama went to Petaluma to meet up with friends for a concert.  Cody can be a bit of an annoyance, but his bubbly personality always wins me in the end.  He’s just such a …. puppy!  You know what I mean.  That unrestrained youthful energy is cute and all, but it can be tiresome for a sophisticate like myself.

Wilbur has an ability to make a really scary face — he lifts his upper lip, showing his teeth, and makes an unworldly guttural utterance that puts Cody in his place immediately.  Being as beautiful as I am (humbly said, of course), I do not have the capability of looking menacing.  Trust me, I’ve tried (especially if Wilbur, Cody or Sofia tries to take my toy or bone) but I just look like a pretty-boy attempting to act like a thug.  It’s just not believable.

Chris Robinson & Bob Weir

While we loved lounging with grandma (and tolerated Cody) mama was at another Chris Robinson Brotherhood show, this time at the Mystic in Petaluma.  Mama and her buddies were stage-side (again) and had a thrill larger than the Brotherhood…. Marin County is home to the Grateful Dead and midway through the first set the legendary Bob Weir showed up to jam a few Dead songs with the boys.  Mama was in hippy heaven!!

After a night of dancing, gabbing & playing mama looked a little tired when she picked us up Saturday afternoon.  But being a good mum, even through blurry eyes, we were treated to a stop at the dog park on our way home.

Sofia and Uncle Marty

Today is Easter and it was a spectacular day!  Uncle Marty and Sofia hosted a small family brunch and everyone helped with providing a dish.  Mama made her famous mushroom and zucchini frittata with peach-chipotle salsa.  Grandma provided fruit salad and deviled eggs.  In addition to creating a festive table setting, Marty made potatoes, rich coffee, mimosas and bacon (for the carnivores).  Plus, he purchased a gorgeous array of pastries from a local bakery.

Beautiful holiday table (with pastries... pastries... pastries...)

I took note of the table arrangement immediately and noticed an opportunity…. the platter of pastries was precariously close to the edge of the table.  While my humans were in the kitchen chatting I stealthy crept into the dining room, hopped on a chair and…. well, by the time uncle Marty spied me, 5 danishes were in my belly.

Surprisingly, I was barely scolded.  Maybe it’s the holiday cheer, and I’ll take that!

hunting for easter eggs

Wilbur, Sofia and I played in the yard and had our own little egg hunt.  We ran around the pool (no accidents today) and danced for treats.  I’m a little tired and bloated tonight, but immensely satisfied.

I sincerely hope that all you, lovely friends, enjoyed this holiday weekend as much as I have.  Do you have any fun stories to tell about your weekend festivities?

  1. That’s too funny Atticus! That sounds like a great weekend. Glad you got to enjoy some of the delicacies that the humans so nicely prepared.

Well I spent much time with my family in Germany via skype, twitter, facebook and other forums. We had a fabulous time together and it almost felt like I was there in person. My parents were at their house in Karlsruhe and my sister cam from Munich with her boy-friend, my cousin from Ulm, my brother from Frankfurt and my 86 year-old granny enjoyed being surrounded by the noise (noisy family but we always have fun) and the laughter.

My husband worked so I opened a nice bottle of white wine from Germany and enjoyed easter online!

Your weekend sounded awesome, times are best when spent with family and friends,

Thank goodness for skype, right?!? I’m sorry you we’re geographically close to your family for the holiday weekend, but it’s super cool that from Texas you can still enjoy a glass of wine while seeing your family on the computer! Great technology!

I had to admit that last night, due to my pastry ingestion, I had to wake mama up twice in the wee hours for potty breaks! yikes! :)
