I told you in my post Heaven Sent Messages that I would fill you in on how the pup, Timmy Elijah Love, got his name… and it’s a doozy, if I do say so myself. Of course, my influence was key to this decision, but read for yourself how the confluence of spirit, serendipity and relationships formed this elegant name.
Once mama came to the conclusion that she must adopt this new little guy she started pondering names. Her first inclination is always towards personally meaningful, literary or cultural names. Names that immediately came to mind were Aramis, Amadeus and Sirius (notice the cadence of all are in sync with Atticus — no coincidence!)
Backtrack one month… An FOA I met through twitter (a gloriously centered and spiritual soul — @OneLoveOneEarth) had emailed mama telling her that her son had some insights on the night of my transition and when mama was ready, she wanted to share. We’ll come back to this storyline in a moment…
During a road-trip last weekend, the name Timmy kept coming into mama’s mind. It made sense because both mama and I have a deep love and respect for young Timmy Lincecum, ace Giant’s pitcher and 2-time Cy Young award winner. As you FOA’s know, mama has been a diehard SF Giant’s fan since she was a wee child and Timmy holds a special place for her.
Our “freaky” pitcher stands for so much more than award and World Series Championship winner. For us, Timmy Lincecum is a beacon of hope and resiliency. Proof that an underdog — a skinny, scrawny, long-haired kid — is capable of indescribable greatness. A strong name indeed, but others thought it was a little silly and not dignified enough.
As mama was driving, she was listening to her beloved Chris Robinson Brotherhood and grooving to their rendition of the old classic, “Poor Elijah”. Then when she switched to the radio, can you guess what song was playing? Eric Clapton’s version of Poor Elijah! Lightbulb moment! His name will be Elijah.
Now, getting back to my twitter friend… Mama came home to a long email from @OneLoveOneEarth and mama felt my spirit moving in the universe.
“December 12th, before bedtime, my son (Timmy) – who is six and VERY aware and intuitive – said some very interesting things. He said it was a very special “angel day.” To us an “angel day” is a day to honor someone’s passing. Timmy is very passionate about Jesus (100% his own truth and took me completely by surprise a few years ago) and is curious about “Jesus’ friends who are now angels.” “
“He told me that night (December 12th) a very special angel was being born. Timmy that the special angel was going to the Light because he believed in the Light. He said the angel’s family believes in the Light too – and that they’d be sad – but they should be happy because the new angel would be very happy.”
Blimey!! Little Timmy’s revelations were spoken at almost the exact time of my transition! And Mama had no idea of our friend’s son name. It immediately made sense to mama… I was driving this decision from the heavens and she got it! Timmy Elijah Love.
They say the universe works in mysterious ways. But it’s not such a mystery when there’s a furry angel keeping watch.

Well Atti…I love your earthly brother’s name. I’m partial to Timmy as you can figure out why (heeheehee), and partial to Timmy Lincecum as well for all the same reasons your mama does. It is so clear to us earth folks that you are shining your love light so bright in your mama’s heart, mind, body, and soul <3. You never left Atti, you just took a different road <3. We Love you! And my Tim and I can't wait to meet Timmy Elijah Love Alberti!!!
What an awesome story. I do believe God works in mysterious ways. This must of just blown you away Heidi. Welcome Timmy Elijah Love Albertie. And until we meet again Atti, enjoy Heaven.
Jamie — we knew you’d like the name! (for the obvious reasons!) Atti’s light will never diminish — in fact, it may be brighter
yes, Velma — God, the universe, works in wonderful ways..conspiring for our greater good
I think Atticus, you shine brighter with each passing day! I wish I could have met you while you were physically here, but I am so thankful that your voice is still being heard! This story was very moving. I will never think of the process of naming someone quite the same way.
Well, Atti, I am impressed and grateful for your workings in the unseen. I’m new to the world of transitioned beloveds and am grateful you shared this message through your mama so my mama feels and knows I am still around working my kitty mojo on her and irritating the heck out of my feline adopted sister Samantha Peanut. I trust you will also be inspiring Timmy Elijah as well.
Kitty love, Cilla
(And Cilla’s mama too…)

I was wondering where the name Timmy had come from and this is such a beautiful story of connectedness, inspiration and love! What a perfect name for the new little pup, and what a heart warming revelation from the young boy Timmy. Children are so much more intuitive than we realize, and of course some are more blessed with that gift than others. I like the choice of Elijah as well…a powerful name for a little puppy, but also a very special name representing a very special prophet and spokesperson for our Heavenly Father. It gives Timmy an aura of purpose and wisdom and importance! Atti, as our sweet furry angel, I hope you will be able to meet some of my angel kitties that I am sure are up there, too, and give them a love lick!
Very nice, Atti! I like his name too. Good choice!

Heidi, very, very nice. In fact perfect.
I suspect my next pup will be The Machine. Talk to you this weekend….getting my energy back in time to rage for the 49ers Sunday. And if you haven’t heard by me by tomorrow evening give me a call.
Hope to see you some time this year….Josh and I are talking about a covert trip to AT&T, and kidnapping my dad so he can have some fun with the boys.
Bruce has a new album March 6. The J Man and I are also hoping to catch the latest rendition of the E Street Band.

Just lovely. Lovely. It feels like so much is coming together and bringing more peace, even as we miss you, Atticus.
I confess I do like those multisyllabic names that have a similar meter to your name, but obviously a different name was pushing its way to your mama’s conscious mind. As a baseball fan I’m happy enough to honor Timmy Lincecum, but this other little Timmy has entered the room as well! As for Elijah, I think I mentioned another time that this is my grandson’s name, so it is already well established in my heart.
Another big connection to Elijah for me: At the Passover Seder, we have an extra cup of win sitting out for Elijah the Prophet. We open the door (briefly – it’s sometimes is cold!) and sing a song to invite Elijah in. When I was a child, my father would always shake the table as discretely as he could–showing us that Elijah was, in fact, there. It was a sweet shared joke among us.
So there is a lot of spiritual energy on this new puppy! He will need your guidance, Atticus, to carry forward with this emotionally and spiritually potent name!

Thank you Sandy. I think it’s a lesson in trusting “intuition” — because your intuition may just be an angel speaking to you
Dear Cilla’s mom Jessica – I know that you are grieving the transition of your sweet, sweet kitty and I want to assure you that she is fine. She’s romping and playing, healthy & happy, and with you in spirit always. As your sadness lifts, you will be better able to feel her. I promise you that! Cilla says to take your time moving through the process and that she loves you and misses being physically with you and Michael. It warms her heart to see how much she meant to her earthbound human family. Wags & purrs ~
Ah Donna… I knew I could count on you to bring up Elijah’s story in the Bible — another reason Elijah was chosen as part of Timmy’s name. Thank you for bringing that part of the story to the conversation. Mama loves that you said it give him “an aura of purpose and wisdom and importance!”. Great description! Although that is a lot of responsibility for a wee little pup
His feet are big though, so I have no doubt he’ll live up to his name!
Please let Taylor know that she has a bouncy furry angel with her as she moves into her new career and I know she’ll be wildly successful! xxxooo
Thanks Bill! we think so
Jeff — only you would name a puppy The Machine! and I’m sure there’s a great story behind that. If you’re headed back this way for a visit & a game, mama says get an extra seat! AT&T park is almost heaven-like… & I should know
Oh Judy, I love that your dad rattled the table at Seder so you would feel Elijah there. Really sweet! Yes, I knew that your grandson is named Elijah and that makes our choice even grander, I think. The Biblical connotation of the name, plus the song and your grandson elevates Timmy’s middle name to another level.
I’m happy that FOA’s are amenable to hearing from me in my new incarnation…I wasn’t sure how folks would react or if they would really “get it”, but you do & that makes me happy. Thank you for your continued support & friendship to mama & I. Wags!
Heidi, I do love hearing from Atticus! Picturing him pulling all these strings and making things happen but mainly helping your heart heal are just a few reasons why I still love Atti. There are no coincidences and how this name was chosen for the new pup is a really special example of that. Have a fun weekend with your pup!

You’re right Trish — there are no coincidences. Wonderful the way the universe works, especially with furry angel influence
Atticus, Even now, you continue to charm us with your lovely stories. Even though you are no longer with us in the physical world, your stories will live on. I really enjoyed hearing how Timmy’s name was decided and it is comforting to know you are still so involved in mama’s life and nudging her in the right directions

I love how little Timmy got his name, very sweet story!
Everything fell in place beautifully! What’s nice is that you listen, see and hear the signs and their meaning. Sometimes we’re just a little blind and too busy with ourselves to see what’s going on. Or we don’t understand the whole picture (until it’s complete!).
Timmy is a very heroic name and it’s what the name bearer makes of it!
Lovin it

That’s quite a long name but it’s gorgeous. If you will have a cat this time, what should you name it?
Your dog is so cute! Thanks for sharing the pictures here!

I’m literally in tears right now. Me and my dogs (Sirius Black and Elle Woods, Yorkie brother and sister) LOVED Atticus and we’re heartbroken for yours and Wilbur’s loss. Sirius is especially concerned about his bf Wilbur and how he’s dealing with everything at this time. The name for your new little pup is PERFECT, and I just love hearing about how Atticus played a hand (paw?) in helping to mend your broken heart. Praying for all of you, and wishing you all the best with the new little one! So glad I accidentally happened upon your blog today, I’ll be sure to start following from here on out to see how everything is going
Thank you Julie! I’m happy I can still charm you from another plane
Timmy’s naming was definitely heaven-sent — no doubt about that!
Dennis — isn’t it cool to know we have people & pups in higher place to help us navigate life on this earth? very comforting, I think.
Thanks June! just proves when we listen to intuition (angels?), the answers are apparent.
a very heroic name, Franziska — I like that! I think he is a little hero to mama. she need this puppy-love to heal her heart.
I know you & know that you are one human who Does actually listen for what’s beyond the obvious… that’s why you are so very pup-like & I love that! (although, I think your hubby is even more doglike
)
Thanks for stopping by Danilo! I do have a kitten sister, Isabella Rose, and she is named after long-passed relatives of my mama. Our previous cat was Sugar, named for Marilyn Monroe’s character in “Some Like it Hot”. the naming process Must have meaning… I hope you’ll come back again.
Gabrielle — what a huge treat to see you here!! You won’t believe this, but one of mama’s initial choices for the pup was Sirius Black, but we already know your pup & thought we’d be infringing. you know how we feel about Sirius — both the Harry Potter hero and your adorable yorkie. How are little Sirius and Elle? We haven’t seen you in forever! Maybe you can privately email us and we can set up a play date with the new puppy.
I understand feeling heartbroken — mama’s been there — but don’t be. I’m still here in spirit and I have more influence now! Stay in touch — we miss you!
